Personal Empowerment - Who do you want in charge of your life - fear or you?

Personal development and personal empowerment are closely linked but not identical. If personal development builds the skills, knowledge and self-awareness, then personal empowerment is the application - having the ability, but also believing in your ability and acting on it.

Do you feel in control of your own life? Take 15 minutes or so and answer the questions below.

If you were living with more conscious intent, in what ways would your life be different?

I’d spend less time reacting to other people’s demands and more time proactively shaping my day. I’d prioritise my health and relationships instead of letting work dominate.  My choices would reflect long-term meaning rather than short-term comfort.

Are you playing to win or not to lose?
Mostly not to lose - I avoid risks because I fear failure.  But that keeps me in the safe zone, which also limits growth.  Playing to win would mean allowing myself to take bolder steps, knowing I might stumble but also achieve more.

If your life was a business ‘ME Unlimited’, would you invest in it?
Partially. I’d invest in my creativity, empathy, and adaptability, but I’d be hesitant about my consistency and follow-through.  To become truly investable, I’d need to concentrate my energy, focus on priorities, and stop undervaluing myself.

What are the three values you want to convey to others?
Compassion, authenticity, and courage.

Complete the sentence: I want others to see me as someone who…
…is real, who shows up fully, and who leaves people feeling lighter or more hopeful than before.

Who would you rather have in charge of your life – fear or you?
Me.  Fear has useful signals, but when it drives the car, it keeps me circling the same block. I’d rather be in charge, with fear as a passenger who sometimes warns me to check the road ahead.

Have you done enough for yourself?
Not yet. I’ve done a lot for others, but I’ve delayed my own growth and joy.  I’m learning that caring for myself isn’t selfish - it’s fuel for everything else I do.
